Duck Duck Goose 2018

I'm not sure why this movie has so many bad reviews. It's a fun kids movie. The animation is well done and honestly it's just a really pretty film. The cat is kind of spooky but not too bad. Parts were predictable but there were also some good plot twists. I enjoyed it.

After he’s grounded by an injury, a high-flying bachelor is saddled with two wide-eyed orphans as they come face-to-face with the dangers and beauty of the outside world in this funny and touching animated feature, "Duck Duck Goose". Our free-wheeling hero, Peng, rejects the community of his tight-knit flock of geese in an attempt to live life on his own terms. But after he narrowly rescues two young ducklings, Chi and Chao, from an eccentric but deadly cat named Banzou, the two latch onto the Goose like a parent; and with a paralyzing winter on the horizon and the departure of both their flocks, Peng agrees to look after the ducklings out of fear his injury might be discovered by Banzou, and other predators who would prey on a goose who cannot fly. The makeshift trio embarks on a beautiful and dangerous journey through mountains and lakes, bamboo forests, marble caves and deep river valleys to reach their respective flocks. On the way, Peng must learn to care for the two ducklings despite his independent attitude, all the while evading the hungry and relentless Banzou, who’ll stop at nothing to claim the ducklings he feels entitled to.

Sherlock Jr. 1924

A film projectionist longs to be a detective, and puts his meagre skills to work when he is framed by a rival for stealing his girlfriend's father's pocketwatch.

There ought to be a theater that shows nothing but perfectly preserved prints of the silent comedies of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, and Harry Langdon. There ought to be a lot of things, I guess. But anyone who thinks that silent film is nothing more than a crude and unskilled ancestor of today's motion picture need only spend some time on these great comedies to realize that, in this genre at least, the peak was reached in the 20s. Yes, there are funny movies with dialogue, but the humor is generally IN the dialogue...nobody--not the Marx Brothers, or W.C. Fields, or Abbot and Costello or the Three Stooges and nobody since--has achieved the sublime mastery of physical comedy these geniuses did. And the best of them all for pure comedy, to my mind, is Keaton. And the best of his movies is Sherlock, Jr. The dream sequence in which he becomes an actor in the film he's projecting is astonishing; the way in which this movie is a sort of window into a different and appealing age is charming--and the ending of this movie takes the breath away. Keaton made some of the great endings in film, I think. Check out "College" some time--just for the last minute or so. If you ever have the chance to see this film in a good print at the right speed with appropriate music, and you don't take that opportunity, shame shame shame. This is one I'd like to own.

Another WolfCop 2017

Alcoholic werewolf cop Lou Garou springs into action when an eccentric businessman with evil intentions seduces Woodhaven's residents with a new brewery and hockey team in this outrageous horror-comedy sequel.

Another WolfCop? Well, no actually, it's the same one as before-police officer and werewolf Lou Garou (Leo Fafard), who upholds the law by tearing apart the criminals. This time around, Lou tries to stop shady businessman Sydney Swallows (Yannick Bisson) from using his new line of stout beer-Chicken Milk-to impregnate the locals of Woodhaven with reptilian alien spawn.

As before, the emphasis is on excessive gore and low-brow humour, but the result isn't quite as effective, the sequel lacking the freshness of the original while throwing in too much poorly conceived eclectic absurdness that simply doesn't gel. Of the best stuff, Lou's crazy sex marathon with six-breasted werecat Kat (Serena Miller) is worth a giggle or two; of the less successful material, Kevin Smith as Mayor Bubba is the definite low point, a talking penile parasite that emerges from the stomach of Lou's sidekick Willie fails to generate the intended laughs, while the finale at a supposedly packed ice hockey match suffers for having a 'crowd' of approximately thirty fans.

Goosebumps 2015

After moving to a small town, Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets next door neighbor Hannah, the daughter of bestselling Goosebumps series author R.L. Stine. Stine is very strange and mysterious and it turns out for good reason. He is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Zach (Dylan Minnette) moves to a new town with his mother and soon meets his neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The two hit it off but she's being overly protected by her father (Jack Black) and soon Zach finds out why.

I guess I should admit that I've never read any of the Goosebump stories and I haven't watched any of the television episodes. I was someone familiar with some of the monsters due to hearing about them as my girlfriend talked about them. I still went into this movie with high expectations and for the most part I found GOOSEBUMPS to be entertaining in its own way. The film is certainly flawed and it could have been much better but there are enough good things to make it worth watching.

What really helps the film is the fact that Rush, Black and Minnette are so good in their roles as is Ryan Lee who plays the nerd. I thought all four of them did a great job with their roles and I thought they certainly helped keep the film moving and entertaining. The monsters themselves were also fun for what they were. The CGI effects were of good quality as you'd expect and I thought the film was creative in the way that it got all of them on the screen.

I did have some issues with the film including the fact that I thought most of the humor didn't work overly well. I also thought the film dragged a bit too much and I really didn't think there was any suspense or tension. Again, going off what I had heard, apparently the show and books were meant to scare people but none of that carried over to this film version.

Isle of Dogs 2018

An outbreak of dog flu has spread through the city of Megasaki, Japan, and Mayor Kobayashi has demanded all dogs to be sent to Trash Island. On the island, a young boy named Atari sets out to find his lost dog, Spots, with the help of five other dogs... with many obstacles along the way.

I really enjoyed this wonderful little film that was such a departure in a way for director Wes Anderson, yet his style is still readily obvious. I saw this at a midnight showing and I can tell you, everyone walking out of the theater was raving and talking about how great it was, And it was, such a charming a cute adventure of a story that was a total surprise, in the sense of a surprise to see Anderson making an animated film. I was so exited for the film and it really was in no way a disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed his latest work, in fact, I might go see it twice, which is rare for me. In the second paragraph I will discuss a little more about what exactly I liked about it, but in general this was a damn good film that demands a viewing.

Wes Anderson's style is so honed in this film despite it being animated. The use of colors and symmetry are still plainly obvious, the color and design of things very consistent giving a believable world for the film to be set in. Each one of the characters was deeply developed and fascinating while also working off many of the other characters. The writing is sharp, intelligent, and very well written in the style of many of the other Anderson classics. So basically if you are a fan of his style, then you will be delighted to see this movie that is the personification of Wes Anderson's style.

The Stolen princess 2018

This wonderful story happened in the age of valiant knights, beautiful princesses, and battling sorcerers. Ruslan, a wandering artist dreaming to become a knight, met beautiful Mila and fell in love with her; he didn't even suspect that she is the King's daughter. However, the lovers' happiness wasn't meant to last too long. Chernomor, the evil sorcerer, appeared in a magic vortex and stole Mila right before Ruslan's eyes to transform her power of love into his own magic power. Without further ado, Ruslan sets out on a chase after the stolen princess to overcome all obstacles and to prove that real love is stronger than magic.

5 points only for good graphics and effects. Scripts and scenario are have to be revised. Plot is not brand new, but something different from similar others. There are a lot of unnecessary scenes that can be sciped. But overall, by comparison with other ukrainian animations it is worth seeing. Ultimatelly it is created for children, and my child was satisfied, and even truly laughed several times.
