Duck Duck Goose 2018

I'm not sure why this movie has so many bad reviews. It's a fun kids movie. The animation is well done and honestly it's just a really pretty film. The cat is kind of spooky but not too bad. Parts were predictable but there were also some good plot twists. I enjoyed it.

After he’s grounded by an injury, a high-flying bachelor is saddled with two wide-eyed orphans as they come face-to-face with the dangers and beauty of the outside world in this funny and touching animated feature, "Duck Duck Goose". Our free-wheeling hero, Peng, rejects the community of his tight-knit flock of geese in an attempt to live life on his own terms. But after he narrowly rescues two young ducklings, Chi and Chao, from an eccentric but deadly cat named Banzou, the two latch onto the Goose like a parent; and with a paralyzing winter on the horizon and the departure of both their flocks, Peng agrees to look after the ducklings out of fear his injury might be discovered by Banzou, and other predators who would prey on a goose who cannot fly. The makeshift trio embarks on a beautiful and dangerous journey through mountains and lakes, bamboo forests, marble caves and deep river valleys to reach their respective flocks. On the way, Peng must learn to care for the two ducklings despite his independent attitude, all the while evading the hungry and relentless Banzou, who’ll stop at nothing to claim the ducklings he feels entitled to.

Virus 1999

Not a bad science fiction thriller, I am surprised I missed it when it came out and just now in 2018 have viewed it. It wasn’t spectacular but I enjoyed it, I thought the pacing was good, it had a great cast, and the suspense in the earlier parts of the film was very well done. The plot centers around an alien entity made of electrical energy that makes it way to a Russian research vessel in the South Pacific. The ship, Akademik Vladislav Volkov, in communication with the Mir space station, is attacked by what looks at first like a powerful electrical surge, one that kills the cosmonauts and once on board the Russian research vessel, renders the ship a derelict at sea.

A week later, a tugboat named the Sea Star, captained by alcoholic and depressed Robert Everton (played by Donald Sutherland), along with navigator and apparent second in command Kelly Foster (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) and engineer Steve Baker (William Baldwin), make their way into the eye of a typhoon. In danger of sinking from the storm and the captain suicidal over losing a cargo to that same storm, a cargo they were towing that might have resulted in the loss of the Sea Star and all aboard, they discover a radar contact sharing the eye with them, something they soon come to realize is the Akademik Vladislav Volkov (Foster announcing its identity when the Sea Star is aside the Russian ship, reading from some sort of field guide to ships). Dreaming of a score from a salvage of research vessel with millions and millions of dollars of expensive electronics, robotics, and research equipment, they soon board the vessel, thinking they will be rich.

They find the vessel at first devoid of humanity, even bodies, and though this bodes well for salvage – if even one person remains, they don’t get to claim the expensive ship as salvage – they soon get an eerie feeling from the dark ship. Splitting up – because of course they split up, they don’t know there is an alien monster aboard the ship – they soon find why the ship is derelict, the crew dead or worse. Not to spoil anything I hope, but the combination of hostile alien being that is made of electrical energy and a ship full of robotics and science labs doesn’t bode well for the salvage crew.

Nowhere To Run 1993

After a daring escape from a prison transport, Sam Gillen (Jean-Claude Van Damme) needs a place to lie low. Clydie (Rosanna Arquette), a young widow with two small children, needs someone to help fight what appears to be a losing battle against the corrupt developers trying to drive her off her land. Mookie (Kieran Culkin), Clydie's son, seems to have solved all of their problems when he ends up befriending Sam, who's hiding out on their property. Sam soon becomes involved with Clydie and her kids, who offer him a sense of purpose and fulfillment he's never known. Sam discovers something in himself that will make him do anything to protect the family that is protecting him. With Ted Levine (The Silence Of The Lambs) as the ruthless hired gun sent by the developer to "persuade" Clydie to sell her land. © 1993 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Yes..he's pretty to look at(and plenty here),but in actuality,he's not bad here.less stupid violence and a more sensitive tone here.my only problem with this film was a dinner between this actor, two young children and their mother discussing the "size" of van damm' s penis.not exactly dinner table manners ! The story line is not very new and in fact, pretty lame and not worth being troubled by screen discussion.and not much dialogue.like I said..he's pretty to look at,and thank God,the noise level is low,but for a van damm film, this is one of his more sensitive performances.get it for a lonely Saturday night and Don't expect great art,and even a few tears can be shed for the ending, but hey, every one deserves a good hug now and then..even for van damm !

Skyscraper 2018

Skyscraper is a 2018 American action film written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, and starring Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Roland Møller, Noah Taylor, Byron Mann, Pablo Schreiber and Hannah Quinlivan. The story follows a former FBI agent who must rescue his family from a newly built skyscraper, the tallest in the world, after it is taken over by criminals and set on fire. The first non-comedy of Thurber's career, it also marks his second collaboration with Johnson, following Central Intelligence. Filming began in September 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The film was released in the United States by Universal Pictures on July 13, 2018, in 2D and Real D 3D, and has grossed over $293 million worldwide against its production budget of around $125 million. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Johnson's performance and the film's suspenseful scenes, but criticized the script as clichéd and too similar to The Towering Inferno and Die Hard.

Some movies rely on "suspended disbelief" to succeed with the viewing audience. SKYSCRAPER is 1 of those movies, for reasons exhaustively documented in other reviews. If you can just enjoy a movie for the action and thrills, without trying to pick apart the plot and premises, then this movie is an "edge of your seat" thriller! I thought Dwayne Johnson's performance was solid, doing an excellent job of carrying the movie. I've lost track of how many action and sci-fi movies I've dozed off to, but SKYSCRAPER kept me involved the whole way through, and when SHTF I was on the edge of my seat 99% of the time after that. DEFINITELY adding this to my video collection.

China Saleman 2017

Based on a true story, CHINA SALESMAN takes us on a dangerous and epic adventure to Africa where a Chinese salesman comes face-to-face with a corrupt competitor over a prized telecom deal. Local tribesman KABBAH (Mike Tyson) and mercenary LAUDER (Steven Seagal) take up opposite sides in a brutal hand-to-hand fight while the entire region threatens to explode in a dangerous civil war.

Spoilers ahead..This is a very interesting film about communication technology. The highlight of this film is a fight that occurs early in the film between Steven Seagal and Mike Tyson. Most of the action in this film involves shooting. Seagal only has two fights. The second fight occurs while Seagal's character is on a motorbike and it probably involved a stunt double. At times the dubbing is poor and the lips don't match the sound. Seagal and Tyson portray shady characters who break the law but eventually decide to do the right thing. I enjoyed this film because the China Salesman was a noble and likable character who wanted to improve communication in Africa. He was honorable and he was not concerned with money. He just wanted to help people and and his company. Tyson has a large role here and does his best as a murderous villain loyal to his clan. Fans of Tyson will enjoy watching Tyson fight and destroy people. Mr. Li stars as Yan and he carries the film. Yan doesn't know martial arts. He constantly gets beat down but he never gives up. He uses his intelligence and cunning to improve the lives of others by enhancing the communication technology in the world. Recommended for fans of Li, Tyson and Seagal. The film has a great deal of violent gun play. No sex.

Us and Them 2018

Ten years ago, on a train home during the busy Spring Festival travel period, fate brings Xiaoxiao and Jianqing together. Like many young couples, they meet, fall in love, and strive to make it work, but eventually, the harsh realities of life make them drift apart. Ten years later, they run into each other again. Will they make the most of this second chance and rekindle what they once lost?

I usually do not like to watch subtitled movies since reading the subtitles can be distracting. I came across this movie on Netflix and decided to give it a go and I am very glad that I did. The story itself is nothing extraordinary. However, the movie does an excellent job in building up the characters and drawing you closer to them. I think it is well worth the journey to spend time with these characters and look back to your own unfulfilled love or the ups and downs of fulfilled love. There is also an underlying theme about family, which was carefully and masterfully woven into the story.

Sherlock Jr. 1924

A film projectionist longs to be a detective, and puts his meagre skills to work when he is framed by a rival for stealing his girlfriend's father's pocketwatch.

There ought to be a theater that shows nothing but perfectly preserved prints of the silent comedies of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, and Harry Langdon. There ought to be a lot of things, I guess. But anyone who thinks that silent film is nothing more than a crude and unskilled ancestor of today's motion picture need only spend some time on these great comedies to realize that, in this genre at least, the peak was reached in the 20s. Yes, there are funny movies with dialogue, but the humor is generally IN the dialogue...nobody--not the Marx Brothers, or W.C. Fields, or Abbot and Costello or the Three Stooges and nobody since--has achieved the sublime mastery of physical comedy these geniuses did. And the best of them all for pure comedy, to my mind, is Keaton. And the best of his movies is Sherlock, Jr. The dream sequence in which he becomes an actor in the film he's projecting is astonishing; the way in which this movie is a sort of window into a different and appealing age is charming--and the ending of this movie takes the breath away. Keaton made some of the great endings in film, I think. Check out "College" some time--just for the last minute or so. If you ever have the chance to see this film in a good print at the right speed with appropriate music, and you don't take that opportunity, shame shame shame. This is one I'd like to own.

Ghost Stories 2018

Intelligently written. Slow moving with lots of 'dead space' but It went in a direction that simply couldn't be predicted; which in a world of ripoff's and remakes is refreshing to say the very least. Martin Freeman is Brilliant as always. If you're looking for a gory and/or an ultra-violent flick, this one you should skip. It's a taut thriller.

Experience three spine-tingling tales of terror to haunt your dreams. A debunker of all things paranormal, Professor Phillip Goodman (Andy Nyman) has devoted his life to exposing phony psychics and fraudulent supernatural shenanigans on his own television show. His skepticism is put to the test, however, when he receives a file of three chilling, inexplicable cases: a night watchman (Paul Whitehouse) haunted by disturbing visions as he patrols an abandoned asylum; an edgy young man (Alex Lawther) involved in a hellish car accident deep in the woods; and a wealthy former banker (Martin Freeman) visited by the poltergeist spirit of his unborn child. Even scarier: each of the these macabre stories seems to have a sinister connection to Professor Goodman’s own life. Will they make a believer of him yet?

This, as they say across the pond, was bloody fantastic. There is no other way to review this movie without spoilers than to describe it as a ghost story, yet it does not constrain itself within the margins of what would actually be considered a traditional ghost story. There are no cheap scares, masked ax-wielders or any assortment of horror movie gimmicks to achieve the full extent of its chills. Your full attention is required to understand it, because every scene has significance. The ending came down like the slam of a sledgehammer, and when you finally realize what has been going on, that, I think, is where the true terror comes from... An excellent movie, but definitely not going to be for everyone.

The Package 2013

All Tommy Wick has to do is deliver a "Package" to a rival crime lord, nicknamed 'The German'. It seems like a routine job, until another gang tries to hijack the precious cargo and Tommy has to fight every inch of the way to deliver it safely. The problem is, the "Package" isn't what Tommy was led to believe, and now he's in even deeper than he ever thought possible.

I've read the reviews and I must say; some are very harsh. I also find the apparent lack of open-mindedness to be frustrating. It's a movie and they should evoke a sense of fun and excitement no matter the content. I've seen near all of Dolph Lundgren's movies and not all are great, not all are amazingly well written but all have something decent about them and this one is no different. I'm not the one to go to if you want to see someone denigrate someone's work. I try to find the good points in everything.

The Package, while ill acted at times, does have a good story line.

Tommy, played by Steve Austin, is the hired muscle employed by the mob. He's married, loves his wife and wants a better life for both of them. He doesn't like what he does and he doesn't feel good about it but he does what he has to, to make a life and pay the bills.

Tommy is paying off his brothers debt to his boss and with one more job, he is promised an "out" and a clean slate for his brother. The only thing he has to do is deliver a package to a man only known as "The German" played by Dolph Lundgren.

As he travels to his destination he is followed and attacked repeatedly by thugs from all sides. Their intentions are to take the package, kill Tommy and collect a huge payday. What they don't understand is that "The Package" is not what they think it is and Tommy is not just a delivery boy.

If you look past the semi bad acting you find a story that is actually pretty good. You end up routing for Tommy and feeling bad for "The German".

Not every bad guy is bad for bad reasons. Sometimes they need to be bad for a good reason.

Shocking Dark 1989

In a polluted future Venice researchers work to improve the situation. One day, unknown forces start killing them. A team of soldiers and a couple of civilians is sent to investigate. Soon, they encounter strange murderous creatures.

Most of the reviews (especially the favorable ones) are for the Schwarzenegger film. This is actually an Aliens knockoff, despite the title (which is more commonly "Alienators" or "Shocking Dark"). This is good fun if you like cheap Italian versions of expensive American genre movies, which I do.

The plot concerns a group of actors in plastic armor running down many hallways and into several rubber aliens. I don't want to spoil it for you. There's not a lot to be found here in terms of traditional artistic merits, but there ARE a lot of funny costumes and a lot of bold, unselfconscious thievery from better films.

Another WolfCop 2017

Alcoholic werewolf cop Lou Garou springs into action when an eccentric businessman with evil intentions seduces Woodhaven's residents with a new brewery and hockey team in this outrageous horror-comedy sequel.

Another WolfCop? Well, no actually, it's the same one as before-police officer and werewolf Lou Garou (Leo Fafard), who upholds the law by tearing apart the criminals. This time around, Lou tries to stop shady businessman Sydney Swallows (Yannick Bisson) from using his new line of stout beer-Chicken Milk-to impregnate the locals of Woodhaven with reptilian alien spawn.

As before, the emphasis is on excessive gore and low-brow humour, but the result isn't quite as effective, the sequel lacking the freshness of the original while throwing in too much poorly conceived eclectic absurdness that simply doesn't gel. Of the best stuff, Lou's crazy sex marathon with six-breasted werecat Kat (Serena Miller) is worth a giggle or two; of the less successful material, Kevin Smith as Mayor Bubba is the definite low point, a talking penile parasite that emerges from the stomach of Lou's sidekick Willie fails to generate the intended laughs, while the finale at a supposedly packed ice hockey match suffers for having a 'crowd' of approximately thirty fans.

Tomb Invader 2018

Archaeologist, Alabama Channing, is recruited by a mysterious billionaire to help find an ancient Chinese relic. The same treasure that her mother was in search of before she went missing.

Archaeologists Julie Channing, searches for the mythical Heart of the Dragon in a temple in China. After failing to choose the key, a temple collapse is triggered, and Channing and her team are killed.

20 Years later, Archaeologist Alabama "Ally" Channin, daughter of Julie, discovers a chest in a cave in the Middle East, dodging booby traps in the process, she escapes only to be cornered by armed soldiers. She dispatches the soldiers and heads home.

Ally works as a professor at Emeron University, where she is approached by Isabelle Villeneuve, who gives her a box containing her mother Julie's journal and a phone, which rings. On the other end of the phone is Billionaire Tim Parker who requests that she meet him in China.

Ally and her friends Helena, a fellow archaeologist, and Bennie, a geologist, make the trip to China to meet with Tim who is with Isabelle, and Nathan Carter a freelance treasure hunter who only seeks monetary gain from ancient artefacts, much to Ally's chagrin. Tim explains that he is seeking to finish Ally's mother's work and recover the Heart of the Dragon. Ally and her friends agree to help. That night, their camp is attacked by a band of locals who kill Isabelle and kidnap Nathan. The remaining members of the group give chase.

Nathan is taken to the leader of the local group, Jian, who berates his men for killing Isabelle. The locals tell Jian about a girl who was with Carter's group, and Jian demands to know who she is. Nathan reveals she is Alabama Channing.

Ally and the others track Nathan and the bandits to their location and are eventually ambushed. Bennie is knocked out but Ally dispatches their attacker, and realizes they must be close to Nathan. She heads in alone but is captured. She is taunted by Li Wei, Jian's second in command, however she breaks free of her restraints and fights her captors, before she and Nathan flee regrouping with the others. They are swiftly caught again though and Jian reveals to Ally that he knew her mother.

Jian tells Ally that he seeks the Heart of the Dragon as a means of uniting China, and asks her to help retrieve it. Ally agrees. Tim threatens Nathan telling him to remember who he works for and that Jian is not to get the Heart of the Dragon.

Entering the Temple they travel navigate the corridors, trying to bypass the traps. However Bennie is killed by a poisoned dart and Helena is injured by falling rocks. Tim offers to go ahead to make sure it's safe. Nathan reveals that Tim has no intention of giving the Heart of the Dragon to Jian and seeks it for it's supposed power.

After supposedly finding the Heart of the Dragon, a glowing gemstone, Tim demands Ally hand it over, and the pair fight. Tim gets the upper hand and incapacitates Ally and Nathan, but a stone guardian comes to life knocking Tim to the side and fighting Ally and Nathan. Tim regains consciousness and flees.

Ally and Nathan defeat the guardian which opens a door, revealing a sword, the real Heart of the Dragon. The temple begins to collapse and they make their escape helping the injured Helena. Tim races for an exit and hits a dead end, the ceiling collapses killing him.

Outside, Ally presents Jian with the Heart of the Dragon, he offers her anything she wants for her services and she wryly asks if there are any other hidden relics she can look for.

Back at Emerson University, Ally is teaching her class when a recovered Helena enters the room, and gives her a look suggesting she has another adventure for them to go on. Ally dismisses her class.

Big Legend 2018

An ex-soldier ventures into the Pacific Northwest to uncover the truth behind his fiance's disappearance.

Despite the nearly endless amount of monsters practically begging to be adapted to film, the wild world of cryptozoology remains a criminally underused source of inspiration for horror movies. While a few lucky cryptids have become ingrained in popular culture over the years, none have graced the silver screen as often (or as prominently) as the Big Man himself. The latest of these Sasquatch flicks is Justin Lee’s Big Legend, a surprisingly compelling survival story with more than a few surprises up its sleeve.

Big Legend stars Kevin Makely as Tyler Laird, a man haunted by the tragic disappearance of his fiancé during a camping trip. After a year in psychiatric care, Tyler returns to the woods that claimed the love of his life, hell-bent on finding the monstrous creature responsible. As he ventures through the mysterious beast’s territory, his suspicions that what he experienced was no mere animal attack are confirmed in the most gruesome way imaginable.

The film also features a brief but lovable performance by Adrienne Barbeau as Tyler’s mother, not to mention Todd A. Robinson as a quirky hunter/Bigfoot enthusiast, but the majority of the picture dwells on Makely’s interaction with the Pacific Northwest wilderness and the secrets that lurk within. The limited amount of characters and lonely backdrop make this a more intimate and contained ordeal when compared to most Bigfoot movies, while also focusing on the inherent solitude of Tyler’s journey and struggle for survival.

Luckily for us, Makely does a great job of carrying the film through these lonely sequences, and it’s hard not to feel sorry for Tyler after all he’s been through. The dialogue occasionally feels forced and the overall script could have used some more polish, but it’s still an entertaining experience.

That being said, there is a certain aura of cheapness permeating Big Legend, with nearly every element of the film feeling slightly rough around the edges. This is obviously a result of the limited budget, but I feel that many of these issues could have been avoided by beefing up the art direction and trimming some hammy lines from the script. Bigfoot himself also looks very mundane, but there are only so many ways you can depict a bipedal ape on film without straying too far from eyewitness accounts, so I can’t quite blame the filmmakers for that.

Crystal Inferno 2017

At the 20th floor of a skyscraper, a gas leak has started a fire. Anne and Ben Bronson, two teenage kids, are trapped in a fiery inferno 20 storeys above the ground, while the fire is spreading throughout the entire building. From the 60th floor, their parents, Brianna and Tom, who were about to sign their divorce papers, will have to fight together to save their family from the flames. Even if Brianna is a brilliant structural engineer, will she find out a way to stop this uncontrolled fire ?

AWell I must admit to not being familiar with "Crystal Inferno" (or "Inferno: Skyscraper Escape") prior to stumbling upon it by blind luck. And I am a sucker for disaster movies, so of course I took the time and effort to sit down and watch this 2017 movie.

I will say that it was actually better than I had hoped for, because the vast majority of disaster movies available are just downright horrible and mauled by having grotesquely awful CGI. Luckily the was only so much CGI in "Crystal Inferno" that it didn't really matter that it looked fake sometimes. You could look past that, because the movie was not relying heavily on having a spectacular special effect to blow the audience away. I doubt they would have had the funds for that, but that is another issue.

"Crystal Inferno" is based more on being a story-driven movie that focuses on the characters and not having blazing special effects to make the audience go "oooh" and "aaah". As for the story, well it was entertaining enough actually, albeit very, very predictable and generic.

It should be said that "Crystal Inferno" has TV movie written all over it.

This is not among the worst of disaster movies that I have seen, and it is actually worth the time if you have an hour and a half to spare and got nothing preceding on the menu.

Tiger Zinda Hai 2017

Inspired by real events, Tiger Zinda Hai is a sequel to the blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger, and an espionage action drama that follows a daring rescue mission in Iraq. When a group of Indian and Pakistani nurses are held hostage in Iraq by the militant Abu Usman, Indian intelligence (RAW) tracks down the reclusive agent Tiger 8 years after he fled with former Pakistani intelligence (ISI) agent Zoya. Joining forces in the name of humanity, Tiger and Zoya lead a team of RAW and ISI agents to covertly enter the hospital where the nurses are trapped, and get the nurses to safety before an American airstrike blows up the hospital. Tiger Zinda Hai is an all out entertainer with gritty action, music and drama.

This movie has no connection with the incident or with how rescue operation is carried out, dont expect some sensible it is a typical bhai kind of movie where everything is possible and others are helpless because tiger is still alive, the only saving grace is the action

A Quiet Place 2018

Two parents do what it takes to keep their children safe in a world full of creatures hunting every sound they can hear. Not a sound can be heard from the family hiding in silence, but all it takes is one noise and everything can go wrong.

A Quiet Place starts with racking up the tension which doesn't let up in a nerve shredding 1hr 25. The premise is simple, we get no back story as to why the family have to stay silent, but within 5 minutes with an unexpected moment we can see what the consequence of making noise is. From then on our focus is on this one family as they strive to stay safe in what seems like a helpless situation. I enjoyed this film immensely. I found it to be nerve shredding and so tense to watch i had to try catch my breath a few occasions as i had been holding it so long. It is the silence for a majority of the film that makes this work and i was grateful for a silent cinema hall (this i will go back to) I found myself caring for the characters (rare in horror) and hoping for a positive outcome. It also doesn't suffer from an overlong run time and imo is not for the most part predictable. Those who like a decent movie monster i feel will be pleasantly surprised i believe as well. Those who are looking for gory in your face horror may struggle to engage and i think coming back to my point earlier if you end up in a hall full of restless noisy people filling the silence the tension will somewhat be lost. A solid 8/10.

Mighty Joe Young 1998

The baby gorilla left in her care grows up to become a hugely tall and broad specimen by the name of Joe, living in the mountains as a mostly unseen legend among people who live there. Along comes an eco-minded emissary from a California sanctuary, who talks the jungle girl into providing safe haven for Joe at the L.A. facility. The transition is not without discomfort, but everything is aggravated via a conspiracy of poachers to get Joe into their own greedy hands!

The Disney remake of "Mighty Joe Young" is an excellent film, but nothing beats the charm of the original film. Having said that, I think both versions are worth owning. There is a common thread that runs through both the original and this remake, and both share a somewhat similar climatic ending. But there are enough differences to make the two films unique and quite interesting in side-by-side comparisons. Of course with Disney's version you have state-of-the art CGI. Joe looks so real, it will blow your mind! A sweet tearjerker that the whole family will enjoy. The remake MJY was filmed in Color and Widescreen.

With the original "Mighty Joe Young" you don't get the state-of-the-art special effects of the remake, but what you do get is a much better story which tugs at all your emotions. The climax of the film is very exciting, and so touching that it brings tears to the eyes. I won't give it away as to not spoil it. The original MJY was filmed in Black & White and Full Screen.

Great news, this film is finally being released in November 2005 along with the original "King Kong" and "Son of Kong" as a special collection. It most likely will be available as a single DVD as well. It should be a winner!

Legend of the Demon Cat 2017

Taking place in the Tang Dynasty, a demon cat appears and breaks the peace of Chang'an City, causing a series of strange events. Poet Bai Letian and Monk Kukai join hands to investigate the death of Concubine Yang by following the trial left by the cat, unveiling a buried fact.

Seeing that this film is adapted from some Japanese series, I would like to say that I have not heard or seen this series so I watched this film without any expectations, not even having seen the trailer or poster before watching it.

To begin, at the beginning it seemed really interesting and the plot pointed to a deep involvement of the main characters, and seeing how it contains mystery, I expected there to be many mystifying encounters occurring TO the main characters. However, as surprised as I was, this is the first show I have seen that sidelines the main characters into simple narrators quite early on.

The plot is also kind of disconnected, with a few main plot lines just barely having any connection with each other. Regarding the genres listed for this movie, I would say it is 70% drama, 20% fantasy and 10% mystery, which is pretty amazing for how the movie was trying to develop. Well, it is only 10% mystery because the presentation in the movie is so obvious that I don't feel bewildered at all. It's like a roller coaster ride with a straight track likening a railway, barely any twists and turns and just totally boring. My friends and I were dozing off at times, one kept asking when the movie ends and the other wanted to leave 30 minutes before the movie ended.

There were some very beautiful scenes, which add points to this movie, however they were usually used for some scenes which do not progress the story much. Oh yes, there are quite a few scenes which felt like they could be removed and nothing else would be affected, also known as fillers.

Regarding the cast, I'm not sure it is just me but some of the acting and actors/actresses do not seem to fit into their roles that well, for example the monk, whose behaviour and facial expressions seem quite uninhibited for "a renowned monk".

After seeing a few stellar reviews, I am still confounded as to what makes this a great film. Sure, there were great graphics and a few twists here and there, but overall it felt more like a documentary. It felt like a history documentary instead of some suspense drama that keeps the watchers' interests going.

My overall verdict is that unless you like terribly straightforward movies that presents content to you straight up, it is much better to invest your time and money watching another show instead.

Ninja bugeicho momochi sandayu 1980

In the middle of the 16th century, Hideyoshi, a power hungry warlord sets out to destroy the Momochi clan. He sends his war commander in search of the clan's hidden gold only to find that two daggers are the key to the hiding place of the treasured gold. Spanning decades, the quest for the missing daggers takes Shiranui through war and ancient tradition.

Yeah, this movie is that good. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The best thing about this movie is the music. I know very little about it, but know that I would trade my little sister for a copy of the soundtrack. It also is that good. It seems to have been composed by the troll of the Japanese composing scene at the time. The whole movie is a series of bizarre sound effects and some sort of jazz-pop backing. It's like this guy was watching the film and went, "Hey, this part of the movie is sad. They're killing off a major character in a very noble and touching way. Hmm... I seem to have this disco-beat left over from another movie that never got made. What if I layered it with some blues-funk? That would be killer." And then he did, and it was. No, seriously, that's not meant to be funny. That is what happens. So keep in mind that, even if I am not describing the music happening at any given time in the movie, it is definitely going to be some sort of wholly inappropriate dance-pop with some urban sound thrown in and then mangled all up for good measure. If you ever get a chance to see this movie, you really should, because the culmination of every part of it makes it so adorably awful/awesome. I'll try my best not to leave anything out, and briefly explain about historical or cultural knowledge that may be less familiar to those who don't live off of these movies like I do. Got it? Okay, let's begin movie time!

Right off the bat, the title screen is overlaid with this horror-movie-esque riff, quickly bleeding into some sort of opening song that tells me that football is coming on. It doesn't.

All the music stops, and we are suddenly jolted into a room with two very important-looking people. The man seated elevated seems to be some sort of daimyo. The guy closest to us is giving some sort of a report. He's name-dropping, a lot, things that get my inner dork all fired up. Iga ninja! Really? Behind him, two men are bowing, and the vassal explains that he has trained these two ninja; one cannot speak, the other cannot hear.

Goosebumps 2015

After moving to a small town, Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets next door neighbor Hannah, the daughter of bestselling Goosebumps series author R.L. Stine. Stine is very strange and mysterious and it turns out for good reason. He is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Zach (Dylan Minnette) moves to a new town with his mother and soon meets his neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The two hit it off but she's being overly protected by her father (Jack Black) and soon Zach finds out why.

I guess I should admit that I've never read any of the Goosebump stories and I haven't watched any of the television episodes. I was someone familiar with some of the monsters due to hearing about them as my girlfriend talked about them. I still went into this movie with high expectations and for the most part I found GOOSEBUMPS to be entertaining in its own way. The film is certainly flawed and it could have been much better but there are enough good things to make it worth watching.

What really helps the film is the fact that Rush, Black and Minnette are so good in their roles as is Ryan Lee who plays the nerd. I thought all four of them did a great job with their roles and I thought they certainly helped keep the film moving and entertaining. The monsters themselves were also fun for what they were. The CGI effects were of good quality as you'd expect and I thought the film was creative in the way that it got all of them on the screen.

I did have some issues with the film including the fact that I thought most of the humor didn't work overly well. I also thought the film dragged a bit too much and I really didn't think there was any suspense or tension. Again, going off what I had heard, apparently the show and books were meant to scare people but none of that carried over to this film version.

Isle of Dogs 2018

An outbreak of dog flu has spread through the city of Megasaki, Japan, and Mayor Kobayashi has demanded all dogs to be sent to Trash Island. On the island, a young boy named Atari sets out to find his lost dog, Spots, with the help of five other dogs... with many obstacles along the way.

I really enjoyed this wonderful little film that was such a departure in a way for director Wes Anderson, yet his style is still readily obvious. I saw this at a midnight showing and I can tell you, everyone walking out of the theater was raving and talking about how great it was, And it was, such a charming a cute adventure of a story that was a total surprise, in the sense of a surprise to see Anderson making an animated film. I was so exited for the film and it really was in no way a disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed his latest work, in fact, I might go see it twice, which is rare for me. In the second paragraph I will discuss a little more about what exactly I liked about it, but in general this was a damn good film that demands a viewing.

Wes Anderson's style is so honed in this film despite it being animated. The use of colors and symmetry are still plainly obvious, the color and design of things very consistent giving a believable world for the film to be set in. Each one of the characters was deeply developed and fascinating while also working off many of the other characters. The writing is sharp, intelligent, and very well written in the style of many of the other Anderson classics. So basically if you are a fan of his style, then you will be delighted to see this movie that is the personification of Wes Anderson's style.

The Haunting in Connecticut 2009

Charts one family's encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover. Now terror awaits when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the dead, returns to unleash horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.

First of all, Virginia Madsen proves once again that she is a very beautiful woman who can really act. She is superb as the mother of the cancer-stricken boy and carries this film. It starts out as a legitimately creepy film. I think I found the mortuary scenes to be more grisly than anything else. Also, I like many other people can unfortunately relate to the cancer-related treatments of loved ones scenes, which are very hard to watch. I just didn't find the film to be as scary and frightening as I had imagined it would be from the trailers and some of the critics comments. On the back of the dvd box, once such critic commented: "Will make you afraid to turn off the lights and go to sleep". Not me anyway. Did anyone else find the plot just a bit confusing when it came to explaining the history of the house?? I gathered the people who ran the mortuary were up to no good, but I sort of lost the plot as to just what they were doing and hoping to accomplish. I missed seeing this movie on the big screen and had to wait for the dvd release. I went for the unrated version and am not really sure just what was added to the original release. I enjoyed it for the most

part, but I do think it could have been a lot better. Ultimately I came away a bit disappointed. As for blood and gore making a scary film, not always. Sometimes the things you don't see, but only hear and imagine are far more frightening. The original 1963 film "The Haunting" is a fine example of this done on film. I wish I could say the same for this film. I am also puzzled as to why the film's running times have been listed as being 92 minutes and 102 minutes. My dvd player was displaying at nearly 103 minutes at the end of the unrated edition's credits.

Death Smiles on a Murderer 1973

You have to see this movie more than once to understand and figure out what's going on.In short, after being reanimated from the dead,Greta Von Holstein(Ewa Aulin)seeks revenge on a lover who jilted her by faking a carriage accident and causing the death of its driver on the estate of the son of the man who impregnated her.She is in cahoots with the butler of the estate, who helps with a lot of her dirty work(then meets his end after she uses him).A doctor(Klaus Kinski)finds out her secret after ministering to her after the buggy accident and copies an Incan formula off of her gold pendant for his own use and fame. The pendant was made for her by her brother(with whom she had an incestuous relationship with)who brought her back from the grave after a miscarriage and inscribed her name, the year of her rebirth, and a mathematical formula for reanimation on the pendant.Greta causes the death of almost everyone in the cast, but you won't really understand anything until about halfway through the movie. And she makes sure no one is left to tell her tale!Surrealistic sound track by Berto Pisano keeps the movie on it's feet in the tradition of Phantasm.Definitely a must see!

When it comes to the giallo genre, fans can be just as obsessive in their pursuit of obscure titles as the hyper-violent, sexually deviant killers that feature in them so prominently. Death Smiles on a Murderer (1973) actually straddles the line between a typical over-the-top giallo mystery and a supernatural story straight out of the Italian Gothic tradition. Arriving with no memory at the home of a pair of wealthy landowners, Greta (Ewa Aulin) seems content to bounce between affairs with both husband and wife, covering her mysterious backstory with a trail of dead bodies, including an overly curious doctor (Klaus Kinski) convinced she holds the key to his scientific research.

Directed by sleaze-maestro Joe D'Amato (using his real name for the first time) the film is a kitchen-sink conglomeration of incest, murder, sex and super-science crafted with a sloppy sort of style. The period setting makes the film feel like a better-made cousin to some of Jess Franco's output from the era, but D'Amato's go-for-broke script holds your attention...even as you're trying to sort out just what the hell is going on! Lifting from Poe, Argento and even a dash of Warhol, the fact that Death Smiles on a Murderer attempts to inject some class into its overall crassness is what makes it so intriguing.

Arrow Video's Blu-ray transfer comes form a 2K restoration of the original camera negative, looking every bit as good as that description suggests. But the extras really seal the deal, including a fascinating peek into D'Amato's exploitation career, a lengthy interview with star Ewa Aulin, another spot-on commentary from Tim Lucas plus stills, trailers and a collector's booklet.

Torment 2013

Newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory's 7-year-old son Liam up to the country for some much needed family time. When it appears as if Liam has run away, psychological suspense becomes straight-out horror, as Sarah and Cory must now confront a sadistic cult-like family who have been hiding in the house all along and have taken Liam for themselves.

After the death of his beloved wife, the widower Cory Morgan (Robin Dunne) marries Sarah Morgan (Katharine Isabelle) and they travel on vacation to an isolated house with his son Liam Morgan (Peter DaCunha). Cory expects that the resented Liam, who misses his mother, gets close Sarah along the next days. On the arrival, they discover that intruders have lived in the house and they summon the local Sheriff Hawkings (Stephen McHattie) calms them down telling that the strangers that have broken in have gone. During the night, Liam disappears and soon they witness Hawkings tied up to the steering wheel of his car. When the car explodes, they realize that they are under attack of sadistic killers and they need to fight back to survive.

"Torment" is a stupid slasher with a lame story, excessive use of clichés and poor development of the characters. The motive for the killing of the insane family is shallow and senseless. The brain washing in the teenager Mary Bronson (Amy Forsyth) is unexplainable and hard to believe. My vote is three.

Title (Brazil): "Faces do Medo: Bem Vindo a Família" ("Faces of the Fear: Welcome to the Family")

Escape Plan 2 2018

Ray Breslin manages an elite team of security specialists trained in the art of breaking people out of the world's most impenetrable prisons. When his most trusted operative, Shu Ren, is kidnapped and disappears inside the most elaborate prison ever built, entirely computerized and constantly changing shape, Ray must track him down with the help of some of his former friends.

As a true-blue Stallone fan, I buy just about every movie he is in. I was looking forward to this sequel ever since it was announced. Yes, it is highly disappointing that Schwarzenegger didn’t appear, but the teaming of Stallone and Dave Bautista (Drax in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies) held promise.

Truth is, Stallone and Bautista are supporting players here to a bunch of actors I’d never seen before. “Hades” is co-financed by Chinese production companies and apparently the movie was intended primarily as a showcase for some Chinese action stars that will be unfamiliar to most U.S, viewers. Which would be fine — IF the movie has been good.

But it’s downright unwatchable. Confusing, boring, poorly told, cheap sets, and just over all everything one would expect from a piece of crap low-budget direct-to-video release. And there ARE some good direct-to-video movies out there, especially these days when they often feature big-name stars. But this is just lame and it bears virtually zero resemblance to the first one — except that Stallone’s character is Ray Breslin (who now has his own security firm) and Fifty Cent returning as well.

Stallone is in it just enough to justify a look from hardcore fans. But this is seriously one of the worst films he has Ever appeared in. And this coming from someone who owns “Stop or My Mom Will Shoot” on DVD and who has watched it multiple times!

In the year 2045, the real world is a harsh place. The only time Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) truly feels alive is when he escapes to the OASIS, an immersive virtual universe where most of humanity spends their days. In the OASIS, you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone-the only limits are your own imagination. When Wade conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends-aka the High Five-are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS.

Like a lot of other people who've reviewed stated, I love the book. I don't read. Simply never (unless it is a bed time story with my kiddo). After finishing this book, I read it again. I'm tempted to read it a third time. It's just that good.

I went into this movie blind. Only looking at the overall total score that reviewers were giving the movie. I was shocked when (very soon into the movie) I realized that the book and movie were going to similar almost in name only. It's really hard to put into words how let down I was initially. But after finishing the movie you sort of realize how difficult (maybe impossible) it would have been for them to make a movie based solely on the book. With this in mind I try to think of the book and movie as two 100% different things. Not basing judgement off of one because of the other. If you enjoy action/adventure movies and lots of nostalgia mostly from the 80's and 90's with other generations sprinkled in, you'll enjoy this movie.

I'm excited to watch it again and really happy this was even made. Overall really great family fun movie. 3.75/5.

The Stolen princess 2018

This wonderful story happened in the age of valiant knights, beautiful princesses, and battling sorcerers. Ruslan, a wandering artist dreaming to become a knight, met beautiful Mila and fell in love with her; he didn't even suspect that she is the King's daughter. However, the lovers' happiness wasn't meant to last too long. Chernomor, the evil sorcerer, appeared in a magic vortex and stole Mila right before Ruslan's eyes to transform her power of love into his own magic power. Without further ado, Ruslan sets out on a chase after the stolen princess to overcome all obstacles and to prove that real love is stronger than magic.

5 points only for good graphics and effects. Scripts and scenario are have to be revised. Plot is not brand new, but something different from similar others. There are a lot of unnecessary scenes that can be sciped. But overall, by comparison with other ukrainian animations it is worth seeing. Ultimatelly it is created for children, and my child was satisfied, and even truly laughed several times.

Rampage 2018

Primatologist Davis (Dwayne Johnson) shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he was young. When a greed-fueled corporation's genetic experiment goes awry, George and other animals across the country are mutated into aggressive supercreatures who destroy everything in their path. In this adrenaline-filled ride, Davis tries to find an antidote, not only to halt a global catastrophe but also to save the fearsome creature who was once his friend.

The gorilla was very funny when there were funny moments and he had a wicked sense of humor! Lot’s of action kept the guys interested and we love The Rock, so it was a great movie night choice for us. There is language and crude humor so you may not want your younger kids (7-10) to watch it without you present. Kids younger than 7? Skip it or adults only watch.

Here's the thing, most movies coming out of Hollywood are average at best and it's all been done over and over again. Rarely are you going to watch a movie today that's truly a classic. So, at the end of the day it comes down to a few things:
1. Is it visually stimulating?
2. Is it immersive?
3. Are the actors enjoyable?
4. Did I enjoy watching the movie?
5. Did it pass time well?
The answer to all five for me was an emphatic yes. In the end, while not a great actor in a traditional sense, The Rock is pretty much always entertaining and this movie was more or less a feel good, happy ending that you saw coming but there was enough tension and plot to make it interesting at all times.

The Last Witness 2018

A young, ambitious journalist risks love, career and ultimately his life to uncover the true identity of an Eastern European refugee and his connection to the British Government's collusion in the cover up of one of Stalin's most notorious crimes.

The Last Witness deals with one of the worst and bloodiest cover ups in world history. World War II began with the Nazi invasion of Poland at the beginning of Sept. 1939. Simultaneously, the Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland. The two totalitarian regimes equally divided their conquests. In April and May of 1940 the NKVD under the instructions of Stalin massacred some 22,000 elite Polish soldiers, priests, and intelligentsia in the Katyn forest and buried the bodies therein. The Germans knew that the Russians had done it and Goebbels used the slaughter as propaganda against the Soviets in 1943. Yet, after the war was over, the British and Americans put the blame on Nazi Germany so as not to perturb Comrade Stalin. This film shows the attempt of one intrepid journalist (masterfully played by Alex Pettyfer - I Am Number 4, Beastly, Magic Mike - in a breakout role) to unmask the cover up from evidence that one surviving witness to the horrifying event provided. The unfolding drama in this movie takes place in 1947. Despite all possible efforts, the truth was not officially revealed until 1990 when Gorbachev confirmed the actual guilty party. Declassified documents in 2012 supported Gorbachev's admission.

Journey's End 2017

Set in a dugout in Aisne in 1918, it is the story of a group of British officers, led by the mentally disintegrating young officer Stanhope, as they await their fate.

I've seen the West End play, read the play transcript, and read the novel too. This (in my humble opinion) is a magnificent adaption of this very powerful play based upon R C Sherriff's real-life experiences in the trenches of World War One. It captures the tragedy of war, courage in the face of hopelessness, friendship, and regret among a host of human emotions. The acting is superb, the sets and attention to detail like nothing I remember seeing in a film set in World War One. I cannot recommend it enough. How sad that it has had such a limited cinema release on the Centenary of the year in which the film is set. Almost as if these men are all forgotten now? Not by me.

Summer1993 2017

In Carla Simón's touching autobiographical film, six-year-old Frida looks on in silence as the last objects from her recently deceased mother's apartment in Barcelona are placed in boxes. Although her aunt, uncle, and younger cousin Anna welcome her with open arms, it's only very slowly that Frida begins to get used to her new home in the countryside. Punctuated by moments of youthful exuberance and mature ruminations, this coming of age drama, set amongst summery hues, is an extraordinarily moving snapshot of being a child in an adult world, anchored by flawless performances by its two young stars.

"Summer 1993" (2017 release from Catalonia; 97 min.) brings the story of Frida, a 6 or 7 yr. old girl. As the movie opens, we see Frida's stuff being boxed up, and Frida along with a couple driving out of the city. The couple discuss the situation in hushed terms but we pick up quickly that Frida's mom just passed away (we're not quite sure of what), and that Frida is now taken care of by her mom's brother Esteve and his wife Marga. The couple have a daughter of their own, 3 or 4 yr. old Anna. How will Frida adopt to her new environment? more importantly, how will the little girl process the death of her mom? At this point we're 10 min. into the movie, but to tell you more of the plot would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

The Hurricane Heist 2018

A crew of thieves plans the ultimate heist, to steal $600 million from the U.S. treasury facility located on the Gulf Coast of Alabama using a hurricane as their cover. When the storm blows up into a lethal CATEGORY 5 and their well-made plans go awry, they find themselves needing a vault code known only by one female Treasury Agent, a need that turns murderous. But the Treasury agent has picked up an unlikely ally, a meteorologist terrified of hurricanes but determined to save his estranged brother kidnapped by the thieves. He uses his knowledge of the storm as a weapon to defeat the bad guys in this non-stop action/thriller.

In the early 1990s, Sylvester Stallone was attached to star in a similar project to this film, called "Gale Force," about an ex-Navy SEAL who defends a seacoast town from a gang of modern pirates during a hurricane. David Chappe had written the script and Renny Harlin was going to direct. Carolco Pictures had a $40 million budget for the film, but creative disagreements over the script and concerns about cost forced Carolco to scrap the film and make Cliffhanger (1993) instead.

Also in 1995 Stallone was involved to star in another similar film titled "No Safe Haven", written by Drew Yanno and Anthony Borghi, in which he would play ex marine who has to fight against militia-like cult who take over Martha's Vineyard and take president's family as hostages during large hurricane, and only help he has is the president who managed to escape from cult members while they were taking over the island. But "No Safe Haven" was also cancelled very early in production.

Titanic 1997

84 years later, a 100 year-old woman named Rose DeWitt Bukater tells the story to her granddaughter Lizzy Calvert, Brock Lovett, Lewis Bodine, Bobby Buell and Anatoly Mikailavich on the Keldysh about her life set in April 10th 1912, on a ship called Titanic when young Rose boards the departing ship with the upper-class passengers and her mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater, and her fiancé, Caledon Hockley. Meanwhile, a drifter and artist named Jack Dawson and his best friend Fabrizio De Rossi win third-class tickets to the ship in a game. And she explains the whole story from departure until the death of Titanic on its first and last voyage April 15th, 1912 at 2:20 in the morning.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Oscar-nominatee Kate Winslet light up the screen as Jack and Rose, the young lovers who find one another on the maiden voyage of the "unsinkable" R.M.S. Titanic. But when the doomed luxury liner collides with an iceberg in the frigid North Atlantic, their passionate love affair becomes a thrilling race for survival. From acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron comes a tale of forbidden love and courage in the face of disaster that triumphs as a true cinematic masterpiece.

Fahrenheit 451 2018

Fahrenheit 451 is a 2018 American dystopian drama film written and directed by Ramin Bahrani, based on the book of the same name by Ray Bradbury. It stars Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon, Sofia Boutella, Lilly Singh, Grace Lynn Kung and Martin Donovan. Set in a future America, the film follows a "fireman" whose job it is to burn now-illegal books, only to question society after meeting a young woman. After premiering at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, the film aired on HBO on May 19, 2018.

Though it was strong in a couple moments, for the most part I was disappointed with this, it really could ave been so much better, especially considering the immense resources of HBO. It goes back and forth between completely ridiculous to somewhat interesting. Unfortunately it is also a pale imitation to the novel its based on, only using the bare skeleton of the story, and not delving into what truly made the novel profound. Michael B. Jordan's character was so completely ridiculous and different than the novel version in the first 15 minutes that I nearly stopped watching it, but thankfully that subsides. There were many things from the book I expected to see, only to piss me off when they were either not there at all, or altered in some way for no justifiable reason. So while many of the basic plot points are there, tough some of them changed, it just didn't possess what the book did.

I did like Michael Shannon's character and his acting, and while Jordan's character is completely off-putting, it does get tolerable as the film goes on. There were a couple of meaningful discussions, but the essential meaning of the book burning is completely missed, it was to create a people void of free thought, and while that is hinted at, for the most part its nowhere near as deep and introspective as the novel, its a very basic rendering of and incredibly deep story. I for the most part was disappointed, it could have been so much better, all the had to do was pay attention to the source material, and not just scan over it. Also the re-writing of many of the characters is inconceivable to me, no idea why they would do it.

Operation Dunkirk 2017

A band of soldiers tasked with staying behind during the Battle of Dunkirk to rescue a scientist with information that could turn the tide of the war must battle their way through dangerous Nazi territory to complete their mission.

Having served in the British army for six years, I couldn't watch more than four minutes of this movie. I was so bad from the get go I didn't bother watching the rest of it. I'm not one for writing negative review, but this one I couldn't let go by. First of you have one man wearing an American helmet, then several people carrying Thomson submachine guns that didn't go into service with the British Commando until 1941. They were driving a jeep, which again we didn't get until late 1940-41. I could go on and on about the mistakes I saw in just the first few minutes of the movie but why bother, you get the picture. If I could give it less than one star I would. Knowing something about movie making I don't fault the actors, as they did their best with what they had to work with, which wasn't much to start with. Skip this one, it's not worth your time.

Dunkirk 2017

“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

I LOVED IT! I have read all the reviews that it was boring and slow.....I considered it a pot boiler. It built up for sure and to me as a history buff, I was fascinated in what seems to me to be a very factual and frightening telling of a terrible happening in History. I know the British consider it some kind of victory but it saddened me the massive loss of life and also the cost to the French, my heart went out to the French and the British alike. The British civilians who took to their pleasure crafts and went to the rescue is awe inspiring. That is the history of it. The scope of this production was massive and beautifully done. The actors were very much underdone as to give the actual event the starring role. I loved the actors and the acting and the direction and the effects which looked to me to be real as opposed to CGI. Bravo and Bravo.........

Train To Busan 2016 និយាយខ្មែរ

TRAIN TO BUSAN is a harrowing zombie horror-thriller that follows a group of terrified passengers fighting their way through a countrywide viral outbreak, trapped on a suspicion-filled, blood-drenched bullet train ride to the Safe Zone, which may or may not still be there.

2016 was a banner year for horror cinema. Don't Breathe. Lights Out. The Conjuring 2. It's a mini-revival that seems to have kept on to 2017, what with the white-knuckler, Get Out, still snagging 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. And yet, far and away, my favorite in this stretch of horror goodness is very much Train to Busan, a 2016 summer release. You may not have heard of Train to Busan because it's a foreign movie, and some folks treat sub-titles like cooties. Any self-respecting gorehound will tell you some of the best horror movies are found overseas. Train to Busan murdered at the Asian box office. American film studios are trying like mad to acquire the rights, and I hope they don't get them. I don't see the sense in recreating what's already a masterpiece. The Raid movie agrees with me.

Tomb Raider 2018

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer, lost to her when she was barely a teen. Now 21 and struggling to make her way in the world, Lara is determined to forge her own path rather than take the reins of her father's global empire...so even she can't understand what drives her to solve the puzzle of his mysterious death. Going explicitly against her dad's final wishes, Lara leaves the familiar streets of London in search of a mythical island -- which may or may not exist -- somewhere off the coast of Hong Kong. With her life threatened at every turn and with no training or experience to fall back on, Lara's sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit are the only weapons she’ll have on this non-stop, action-packed, trial-by-fire adventure into the unknown.

The Angeline Tomb Raider films were made in 2001 and 2003. The first was great and the second so-so. The movie series has been given a reboot with Alicia Vikander as the eponymous heroine. I did not play the original Lara Croft games but have enjoyed the recent ones with the new look Lara. This film takes a lot of cues from the modern Tomb Raider games. The action sequences draw heavily from the modern games. I particularly liked the crashed plane sequence. It feels like a direct port from the games in some places. The plot is decent and the principal actors do a very good job with the material they are given. The preformances of Alicia Vikander and Walter Goggins are exceptional. Goggins carries off the intensity of the main villain very well. Fans of the original Lara will prefer the Angeline Jolie version. Fans of the modern game will find this familiar and enjoyable.
